'F' is for Fetish

Hi

Thanks so much for dropping in.  October sees a new topic on 'Writing; The Alphabet'.  We're now up to 'F' is for Fetish.  Every Wednesday I or a guest will be discussing something related to the subject - it may be a particular fetish, fetishism itself or any related item or aspect.

Although I realise that Wikipedia may not be considered the most reliable source of information, I found their definition of Sexual Fetishism to be quite adequate and explanatory: "Sexual Fetishism or Erotic Fetishism is the sexual arousal a person receives from a physical object or from a specific situation."

Fetish fashion is clothing or any accessory which is worn to evoke a sexual or provocative response.  It is often made of PVC, leather or rubber, and usually includes items such as fishnet stockings, stiletto heels and boots.  A lot of dark colours are often preferred, with Doms or Dommes often favouring black.

According to Psychology Today, "Inanimate object fetishes can be categorized into two types: form fetishes and media fetishes.  In a form fetish the object and its shape are important, such as high-heeled shoes.  In a media fetish the material of the object is important such as silk or leather.  Inanimate object fetishists often collect the object of their favor.  In some cases the fetishism is severe enough to inspire the fetishist to acquire objcts of his desire through theft or assault.  Fetishists smell, rub or handle these objects while masturbating or ask their sex partners to wear the objects; male fetishists may be unable to get erections without the presence of the objects.  Nearly all fetishists are male, though some women also exhibit fetishism."
Specific fetishes, although a relatively taboo subject, are often the talking points in both men's and women's magazines, generally for titillation purposes.  A fetish can, however be a very serious and psychological problem.  When a person relies on the fulfilment of their preferred fetish in order to enjoy sex, it is usually a sign that the person (the fetishist) needs medical help.

Join me again on Friday if you can, when I will be featuring Suzy Shearer with her latest release.  Until then enjoy the rest of your week,
