'Bondage' by Jennifer Denys

What does one immediately think of when one hears the word ‘bondage’?

Ropes, binding, handcuffed, tied, bound are some of the terms I thought of. My head instantly goes to the suggestion of physical restraint particularly that used in BDSM for sexual pleasure.I love being tied up – I am such a control freak that it liberates me. There’s not much I can do about it so I can relax. Trust is what is all important here.

Historically, in the Middle Ages, serfdom was a form of bondage in a feudal society where the serfs were bound to the Lord of the Manor legally and socially.

Interestingly, one of the definitions that frequently comes up on google is ‘the state of being another person’s slave, owned by them’ which harks back to the olden days, but, in some ways, is still linked to BDSM – by offering yourself as a submissive and giving another control over you, you are effectively enslaving yourself. The get-out clause being the option of using your safe word.

‘Torn Between Two Lovers’ is set in a werewolf BDSM club and the traditional types of bondage are used with references to being tied to a St. Andrew’s Cross and others.By writing a paranormal story I was able to slip the boundaries (good choice of word!) and include items that do not happen in real life BDSM – such sex in public, not having a safe word for fear of losing respect in the club, being chained against your will to a stake for humiliation. These are alpha werewolves – if they show weakness they may be challenged or rejected by the alpha males. Dominance and submission in its natural form – which goes back to bondage again, this time mentally, emotionally.

The heroine, Evie, is submissive to Stefan – and she loves it. But when she meets human, Jace, who is not into BDSM, she sees a different way of life and is torn between the two men. This is a scene where Evie is making love to Jace:

Excerpt:

The bed dipped as Jace sat by her. Then something tickled her stomach. She automatically tried to brush it away with her hand.
“Uh-uh. Get your hands away.”
A moment of impishness came over her. “Why don’t you tie them to the bed then?”
He was silent for a moment. “Well, apart from the fact that there is nothing to tie them to, I trust you to keep them on the pillow.”

She is still bound – but by her desire to please Jace, to see what he can give her (some fabulous sensation play with roses and strawberries!) that differs from what Stefan offers.

A later scene when she returns to Stefan takes her back to traditional bondage when he ties her over the back of a chair – but when she is panicked by it he has to work hard to regain her trust.

“You know perfectly well what I am going to say, don’t you?”
Sighing, she nodded. “I have to do it in order to face my fears.”
“To overcome them, to conquer them. Only by doing so will you be able to put it behind you.”
“I–I understand.” Her voice sounded croaky, but Evie stood and bent over the tree trunk as directed.
Her fingers tightly clenched the wood as she lay there, ready to push herself off the tree, but Stefan must have seen. “Place your hands behind you.” She went to clasp them over her back, but he removed them, laying them either side of her body, palms face up, making it more difficult to tense her body. “This is a very nice picture.” He stepped back. “Look at you, Evie. You automatically stand, feet apart, pussy open. You instinctively know what to do, my love.”

Evie comes to trust Stefan again, but is this enough? She is torn between her love for werewolf Stefan and BDSM and her love for human Jace and his sensation play. Which will she choose?

And here's more news on Jennifer's latest release:

The mysterious werewolf entity from "Collared by Wolves" is called on again when lovely submissive shifter Evie Pierce runs out on her alpha werewolf Dom, tall and hunky Stefan Russell. A handsome human, Jace Talbot, a visitor to the area, who doesn’t know that werewolves exist, rescues her from malicious rogues who attack her in the forest.
As she recovers they begin to fall in love, but Evie has a dilemma. She is torn between Jace and his sensual, romantic ways and her old BDSM life with Stefan, and all the excitement that brings.
A confrontation between the two men leads to a stark realization, horror, and betrayal. This changes all their lives as they struggle to understand what has happened, and then a natural disaster means the two men have to work together. But what will happen once it’s all over? Whom will she choose? Human or werewolf? Gentle or rough?
